job Description MIDLANDS STATE UNIVERSITY ADVERTISEMENT STAFF VACANCY APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FROM SUITABLY QUALIFIED AND EXPERIENCED PERSONS FOR THE FOLLOWING FULL-TIME POST: FACULTY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Post B: Software Developer / Programmer (1 Post) Duties and Responsibilities -Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software applications to support the Department’s teaching, research, and administrative functions. -Develop web-based and mobile applications for academic, research, and community engagement projects. -Collaborate with academic staff and students on software development, innovation, and research projects. -Provide technical guidance and mentorship to students undertaking software development projects. -Support lecturers and researchers by developing software solutions, prototypes, and research applications. -Maintain and enhance existing departmental software systems and websites. -Develop and integrate databases, APIs, and cloud-based solutions. -Assist in the development and management of e-learning platforms and other digital learning tools. -Ensure software quality through testing, debugging, documentation, and version control. -Implement software security best practices and maintain secure applications. -Participate in departmental consultancy, innovation, and software commercialization initiatives. -Keep abreast of emerging software development technologies, frameworks, and industry best practices. -Prepare technical documentation, user manuals, and system documentation. -Provide technical support and user training for developed applications. Qualifications and Experience -Must have a BSc Honours Degree in Computer Science or Computer Systems Engineering. -Professional certifications related to the field is an added advantage -At least one (1) year of relevant post qualification working experience would be an added advantage.
