job Description MIDLANDS STATE UNIVERSITY ADVERTISEMENT STAFF VACANCY APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FROM SUITABLY QUALIFIED AND EXPERIENCED PERSONS FOR THE FOLLOWING FULL-TIME POST: FACULTY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Post A: Senior Technician (1 Post) Duties and Responsibilities -Manage and maintain computer laboratories and ICT equipment. -Install, configure, and troubleshoot computer hardware, software, and networks. -Provide technical support to staff and students during teaching, research, and examinations. -Maintain servers, operating systems, databases, and cybersecurity measures. -Ensure the availability, functionality, and security of laboratory resources. -Assist with the procurement, inventory management, and maintenance of ICT equipment and software. -Supervise and mentor technical staff and laboratory assistants. -Develop and maintain technical documentation, maintenance records, and asset registers. -Ensure compliance with health, safety, and ICT policies. -Support departmental research, innovation, and digital transformation initiatives. -Liaise with the University’s ICT Department and external service providers on technical matters. -Keep abreast of emerging technologies and recommend improvements to ICT infrastructure and laboratory services. Qualifications and Experience -Must have a National Diploma in Computer Studies, or an equivalent in the related field. -Must have a BSc Honours Degree in Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering or an equivalent in the related field. -At least three (3) years of relevant post qualification working experience would be an added advantage.
