GIS Analyst Job Category: Zimbabwe Requisition Number: GISAN001354 Posting Details Posted: July 16, 2026 Full-Time Hybrid LocationsShowing 1 location Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe, ZWE Job Details Description Staff work a hybrid schedule with 2 days/week in the office The GIS Analyst supports IFAW Rescue and Conservation pillar programs through the collection, management, and preparation of geospatial data. The position assists with field data collection, map production, database maintenance and routine GIS analyses while ensuring that spatial data are accurate, organized and accessible.
Duties and Responsibilities
Geospatial Data Collection and Management Collect, validate, and consolidate spatial and attribute data from field teams, implementing partners, and other stakeholders. Support GPS and mobile-based data collection initiatives across IFAW-supported landscapes using platforms such as EarthRanger, SMART, and Survey123. Maintain and update organizational and partner geodatabases, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and adherence to metadata standards. Conduct data digitization, cleaning, verification, and quality assurance processes to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of spatial datasets.
Qualifications and Experience
-Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or a related field preferred. -At least two (2) years of relevant experience in GIS, spatial data management, and geospatial analysis; relevant internships may be considered. -Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and/or QGIS for spatial data management, analysis, and map production. -Experience with GPS and mobile data collection tools such as Survey123, EarthRanger, SMART, Field Maps, or similar platforms. -Strong understanding of cartography, coordinate systems, geodatabases, metadata standards, and spatial data management principles. -Experience developing Web GIS applications, dashboards, and ArcGIS StoryMaps to communicate spatial information effectively. -Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams. -Willingness and ability to travel to field locations, including remote environments, with travel requirements of up to 20% of work time. -At IFAW, we aim to create and foster a workforce that reflects and contributes to the diverse, global community in which we work to improve the lives of both animals and people.
